Almost pumelled. So I called the Police.

So my boss fired almost everyone and well yesterday was payday. The boss was no where around. He told one of the secretary's that no checks were to be given out until after 1800 and and they were only to be given out if the former employees had their uniforms to return. So that made sense to me. Then the secretary decided she had to leave at 1700. And would I hand out the checks. Sure no problem. BIG PROBLEM! The squad calls in quarters so I go open the bay door for them. As soon as I open the door about 15 of the guys (former employee) pull up and get out of their vehicles and head towards the open bay door. Oh CRAP! I was instructed to not let any former employees into the building. I tried to get the returning crew in as fast as possible but they were confused about all the people and the people were storming at me as I tried to close the bay door. Uh oh now they are in the building and very angry. Demanding checks using profanities and threats directed at me. Give us our checks and all that that comes with it. Now the group of them picked a very good leader. (We'll call him Rob) Rob is about 6'11" and very large. Rob was steadily getting closer to me continually yelling while things were being thrown and everyone was getting angrier. I was just trying to explain that I had to have T-Shirts before I handed out checks and there was no problem I just needed T-Shirts. But no one wanted to listen to me so I said I was told to call the police if everyone was getting all worked up and violent and I was instructed to call the police if former employees were getting all out of wack. So I said I need to call the boss and make sure I could give checks out without shirts. So I went hurriedly to the office and Rob was right behind me. There was a little arguing but I eventually got the door closed and locked. I called my boss about 6 or 7 times no answer. (Very convenient) I was in the middle of pulling out the checks of the guys who had shirts in their hands. When I hear Rob banging on the door. It scared me He was banging and pounding and yelling that he was going to break the door down. I knew he could and would so I yelled hear I come. I opened the door part way. He flung it open. Snatched the checks from me. Just as I was saying I need you shirts! So then after Rob gave everyone there the checks I was assaulted with T-Shirts and Jackets. Then they started to get heated up again and yell and talking about burning and stealing things and they were threatening me and calling me a sellout and getting very violent. They were not leaving and I was trying to take a call from a nursing home that we needed to respond too. They started getting more aggressive and tried to get into the office. My partner locked the door trying to get the guys out and I knew as the banging on the door continued I needed to call the police. I called by the time the arrived most of the guys were in their vehicles leaving. So the officer looked at me like I was stupid. But when I called no one would leave and they were destroying property. So it finally cooled down and my one crew was headed out when we got another call. But I was frazzled. I mean my boss conveiniently called after everything had ended. (He has said on numerous occasions that he has voice recorders in the office and he has played the tapes back) It just seems like I wasn't fair that I had to deal with that. And the boss told all these guys to meet up as the base at that time too. But I worked with a great partner for the rest of the shift which made the day turn around and be happy. And yes I know I should have called the police as soon as they stormed the building. Hindsight is always 20/20 - Jessiye 10:4

After i got done kick the shit out of the boss, i would ask for a raise. That was extremly improper and unprofesional of him/her. I would of left the door locked and waited on the police. But i wastent there. So i will shut up. It took tremondous courage to do what you did. The rest of them, including your boss, can go to hell....

Wow. That had to have been extremely stressful. Nice boss leaving you to deal with situation that they knew could get violent. Sounds like the boss was to scared to deal with it himself. Did he at least have a good reason for firing every body?
